vacation
I have been very busy since my last post! Everything is so new and exciting here that it feels like I'm on vacation, even though I am still going to school and doing hw, etc. But, I am going to jump right into it and tell you about a few experiences I've had since the last post that are worth mentioning!
That day of my last post, I actually decided to take myself out for sushi that night. Everyone was busy and I wanted a nice sit down meal so I went to a place called 'Miss Sushi.' It was a beautiful restaurant and very well priced! I got 16 pieces of sushi for about 12€ which I thought was a great deal! Honestly it was a really great experience to just experience something on my own with no pressure to do anything a certain way, etc. The waitress also didn't speak much english so it was very interesting trying to order asian food in Spanish!
Throughout the past couple of weeks, I've also made some really great friendships! Valentine's Day weekend my friends and I went to a lot of discoteca parties and it was very fun! Overall a great experience, the music was great, the vibes spectacular, and the company was even better! One thing to note is that people aren't joking when they say people party in Spain all day, all night.... they really do go until 7AM, and it's not uncommon for people to be showing up at 2:30-3:30!🤯 I may never understand how one adjusts to this lifestyle, but I have a new respect for people who can regularly do that haha.
On another note, my friends really like to cook! So I might have learned a new recipe or two 👀 It has been really nice having home cooked meals again, this is something I do miss.. although the cafeteria food here is like eating at a food court made of gold compared to cafeterias in the states!
Speaking of cafeteria food... please let me make you understand. You can order an 8€ meal that includes all of this! Two large pieces of chicken, a fried egg, fries, a salad, bread, juice, and a coffee!! It definitely shocked me when I realized how much food it was 😅
Another experience I know I will miss like no other when I go back to the States, is juicing my own fresh orange juice in the grocery stores! This is by far one of my favorite experiences I've had since being in Spain... Tropicana could never compare! This orange juice is so fresh, it's honestly the best thing ever. Words can't express it's amazingness.
Another thing I know I will be missing is Spain's twist on fries. They call these specific fries "Patatas Trinidad." Yes this is really the holy trinity of french fries. They put queso sauce, honey mustard, and mayo on their fries... it is out of this world! I will definitely be taking this invention back home with me!
Another fun thing I have learned since being here is Murcia's equivalent of Dunkin' or Starbucks. It is called Picadilly's, it's pretty great! So far it has been the only coffee shop I have found that sells coffee in mediums and larges haha, and their coffee did not disappoint. This place definitely gives Dunkin' a run for it's money!
Another great place I have discovered is Sharanam Tetería (Teahouse)! I went here with some of my Moroccan friends that I met my first week. They wanted to expose me to their culture in addition to introducing me to Spain's culture. Overall it was a great atmosphere, we actually got to sit on cushions on the ground! It was very relaxing and very fun!
While there are so so so so so many more pictures and experiences I want to share with you, I have to save some to show you when I get back! I will be trying to post more regularly but it has been a challenge since when I am not doing my homework and being a good student, I am out trying to experience as much as I can 😅
Anyways, thank you for reading! Keep a lookout for the next post :)
