Update: All is well again. To start off the week, unfortunately I had a nasty cough so I ended up going to the walk-in here in Murcia, and I had to get an X-RAY. It turned out that I did in fact have Bronchitis :(
While this news wasn't great, I was able to get the antibiotics I needed and I am now no longer sick as I write this. Now, on to the good parts of this week... let me tell you about it:
To start, the little restaurant in front of my business building at school had a Rabbit & Rice dish as its Menu of the Day. When I tell you this was the best rabbit dish I've had in a very long time... I will probably dream of it at least once a week. For those who are reading this and have never had rabbit, it's very common in Spanish and Portuguese dishes and it basically tastes like a better version of chicken. I highly recommend it.
The next day when I had no classes I went with my Moroccan friend, Othmane, to get kebab tacos (if you were unaware, Kebab is an extremely popular Turkish cuisine here in Murcia... there is a kebab place on just about every street in the region) and go to the Aquarium. It was such a fun and relaxing time, definitely a highlight of the week worth noting! I even got to try a tropical Moroccan soda, it was very good!!
Later on in the week, I went on an organized trip to Barcelona with some friends! We left at 2:45AM on Friday morning by bus and arrived in Barcelona at about 11AM. We checked into our hostel, which happened to be very nice, and we then went and got lunch. I ended up having a very good Tex Mex burger with guacamole on it... I will also be dreaming about this burger! Later on my friends went to a flag parade organized for the international students, however, I decided to sleep through it since my cough was acting up and I felt like resting (luckily they said I didn't miss much).
Later on my friends came back around 7:30 and woke me up to with them to dinner. It was very good, we went to a Chinese restaurant that happened to have chicken soup. I got this in hopes it would make me feel better, and luckily it did! Later that night we all got ready and went to a discoteca that was included in our itinerary. We got there pretty late and I had to leave after about an hour and a half there since my head was hurting and I was tired. But other than this, the first day of the trip was lots of fun!
The next day was when we had actual tours of Barcelona. I got to see the main tourist areas of Barcelona, like Sagrada Familia and Parc Güell! It was such a great experience and I'm really happy I was able to see so much of the city. We did the whole tour by foot... so by the end of it we had to have walked close to 15 miles!
Later that evening my friends and I went to a fancy Italian restaurant. It was so relaxing and there was just something that felt more special eating at a fancy Italian restaurant in Barcelona. I ended up having a white truffle ravioli along with Sangria. It was probably the best pasta I will ever eat. After that my friends and I decided that we were too tired from the night before to go to the other discoteca included in our itinerary so we got milkshakes instead. Overall it was a great trip!
I also wanted to show you that I actually do eat normal things every day and I am not eating out every single day haha😂 So here is also a picture of my most recent grocery shopping trip. As you can see here I buy pastas for dinner that will last for 2 meals and I also buy snacks and breakfast foods haha (normally I buy lunch at the cafeterias on campus)
Again, it really was a great week. I still feel a bit homesick and I really miss certain people and things about home right now, but this is still an experience I wouldn't give up for anything! Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed! :)
